Abstract

The conference is intended for Economics, Econometrics or Finance Ph.D. candidates or young postdoctoral researchers applying for a position in France/Europe this year.

Franck Portier

He is a Professor of Economics at University College London and a Professor of Economics at Toulouse School of Economics (on unpaid leave). He is also a senior member of the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF), a research fellow at CEPR, a former Editor of Annals of Economics and Statistics, and a former Deputy-President of the University Toulouse I.

His paper entitled: "Putting the cycle back into business cycle analysis"

 

Michèle Tertilt

She is a Professor of Economics at the University of Mannheim, and a former Assistant Professor at Stanford University. She is currently an editorial board member of the Review of Economic Studies. Furthermore, she is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Development Economics. She is also a Research Affiliate at BREAD and the European Development Research Network (EUDN) and a Research Fellow at CEPR and CESifo.

Her paper entitled: "Female empowerment and development"

 

Romain Wacziarg

Romain Wacziarg is a Professor of Economics at UCLA Anderson School of Management where he holds the Hans Hufschmid Chair in Management. He obtained his PhD at Harvard University and he is a former Associate Professor at Stanford University. He is also a Researh Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), an associate Editor of the Journal of Economic Growth and of the World Bank Economic Review, and a former member of the board of Editors of the American Economic Review.

His paper entitled: "Change and persistence in the age of modernization: St Germain d’Anxure 1730-1895"
