DESCRIPTION:*Relationships play a significant role in initiation of an addi
ctive behavior\, especially for teenagers and young adults. However\, the i
mpact of these relationships varies depending on the individual's position
in their social network. For instance\, consumers who are linked with highl
y addicted peers will tend to engage more in addictive behavior\, and event
ually become addicted. This paper presents a dynamic model of consumption c
hoice in a network\, which includes an addictive good. A consumer's  level
of addiction is influenced not only by their own past consumption but also
by the current consumption of the other agents. In this model\, consumers
are connected through a friendship network and are directly influenced only
by their immediate neighbors. I consider three different types of agents :
myopic consumers\, rational consumers and present biased consumers. They d
iffer in their attitude toward the future consequences of their current con
sumption choices.**Time is a limited resource that individuals allocate to
activities such as work or leisure\, but also towards relationships. Spendi
ng time with other people is crucial in individual lives\, as it reduces pe
rceived loneliness and increases well-being. There are different ways of sp
ending time with others. For example\, people allocate their time to social
izing with friends\, but also to care provision for close relatives who nee
 d assistance\, companionship\, and support\, such as old parents. In this s
ense\, the aging of the population is increasing the demand for care time\,
modifying the time allocation choices concerning other social activities.Â
Within this framework\, I study a model of time allocation choices in a ne
twork setting. Individuals can be part of two fixed networks: a friends net
work and a family network. They can allocate their non-working time to soci
al time with friends and to care time towards family. Social time presents
strategic complementarities with the social time of their friends\, while c
are time is a strategic substitute for the care time of other family member
 s. I explore the trade-off in time allocations within specific network stru
ctures\, accounting for the well-being of the care recipient.\\n\\nContact:
